“I want to be the one to walk in the sun”
Steven E Robertson is a Glasgow based artist whose figurative drawings and oil paintings explore queer identity through themes of longing, nostalgia and self worth, balancing humour, irreverence and melancholy, his work draws on memory, borrowed lyrics and staged scenarios to create a personal visual language shaped by vulnerability, defiance and self recognition.
"Ultimately, the paintings are acts of recognition and attempt to understand how love, loss, faith, shame, pleasure, and resilience can occupy the same space."
“you better let somebody love you before its too late”
“and before you break my heart in two”
“I did it all for love “
“Well worn Tracks lose their familiarity
the compass spins and falls after the table flip
Bright pathways emerge from below
no footprints in the powder
The old world falls away”
“I’d give my life for one more night”
